Why We Give
The church is build by generous gifts from generous people whose lives have been moved by God’s mandate to give. Jesus was our example to give out of a heart of love.
Money is an emotional subject and deeply personal. We at C3 Calgary want to make it easy for you to contribute financially in the way that best suits you. Thankfully the bible is filled with help and direction on money & giving. In fact more scripture is given to these topics than heaven and hell combined.
We believe that the bible gives us some simple instructions on giving. 1. It should be purposeful “at first of week…” 1 Cor.2. It should be porportionate. “..as you have been blessed” 3. It should be cheerful, joyful not guilty or manipulated 4. It should be a percentage. Not equal number but equal sacrifice. We love to tithe. The tithe means 10% of our gross income, which we see as biblical directive to start giving. Many find this either a big step or legalistic. Well, whatever, do the research yourself, it is a great starting point and we believe it provides protection for the other 90% we are given to steward.
There are other times when special projects arise that we invite the congregation to participate in after much prayer and counsel.
The blessed life is walked out on two legs. Stewardships & generosity. Living & Giving. The proof of love is giving. “For God so loved He gave..”Stewardship acknowledges that God owns everything. 100%. What we are given is HIS for us to steward (manage) and one day we will give an account of how we handled HIS resources. So we encourage everyone to live below their means and give generously, porportionatly, cheerfully (not grudgingly) . This is an opportunity to trust God and to deal with our heart. Jesus said we can only serve ‘one god’. It tests our heart regarding “Who are you going to trust?” because where our heart is our treasure is also.
Giving is a means of growth. We grow by giving.
We want to assure ever donor that we use the best accounting practices and have independent audits done each year to merit your confidence that your gift is accounted for and used wisely.
Thank you so much for your generous donation. Your gift will make a significant difference.
Ps Lorne.
